Day 3 - New Orleans

We made it at last to New Orleans. Today was a very long day due to a very late start and the fact that I, Eric, locked the keys in the car by accident. Luckily the Lord provided a special metal pipe which we could use to open the lock through a crack in the window.

We tried Chic-Fil-A for the first time.Our drive through Alabama was pretty boring most of the time but once we got towards the coast it became more interesting with some nice bodies of water to see. We also took a small detour down to Biloxi and Gulfport so Bethany could see what things looked like after Hurricane Katrina. There's still work to be done.
We arrived in New Orleans at 11:00 PM Eastern time and didn't even have enough energy to go find food. We went straight to bed.

Day 2 - Seeing more Friends

Our second day of travel was pretty long due to an early start, traffic, and long boring stretches of road. We left Mohnton, PA at 7:00 and arrived in Washington D.C. at 10 a.m. to see our friends, Michelle and Janet, both who live and work in the city right now. After scrambling around to find parking, we went to a little place on Wisconsin Avenue to eat some breakfast and visited with our friends, finding out about their jobs. We then left D.C. around 12 and immediately hit construction which set us back a little bit. So far, the traffic in the city was the roughest we've seen. The road through North Carolina took about 4 hours and we finally arrived at the Clarks at 9:00 p.m. in Pickens, SC. Along the way, our journey reached 1,000 miles which is about one third of the trip. Brittany made some yummy pizza for our arrival and the Droddy family came over to say hi. The next morning we visited with Lee and then started out on the road again.

Day 1 - Road Trip

Wow, it was quite a day. We got up at 6:30 and had breakfast with the family who were incredibly helpful and such a blessing helping us get out the door. Here is a picture of all of us packing the car the night before.

The next morning God provided a rainstorm to send us off and so Bethany and I started out the day soaked and remembered to be grateful for being dry. We drove 8 hours to PA and had dinner with the Heitland's (very cute kids shown below).

We then visited my friend Matt Gibbel and finally stopped at the O'Connell's. Everyone was very wonderful and hospitable to us.

Praises: God keeping us safe on the road, the help from everyone to get us out the door (It really felt like God was taking care of us through others). Everyone's hospitality.
Prayers: Continued safety on the road and peace about our move and new job.
